Fifth Annual International Maritime Film Festival
-
The International Maritime Film Festival (IMFF) is a juried contest of films celebrating the heritage, spirit of adventure, and ingenuity of boats and waterborne pursuits. It is the premier event for maritime-themed filmmaking.
IMFF accepts documentary films on a broad range of maritime subjects. These include, but are not limited to, voyaging, racing, working, leisure, boatbuilding and restoration, historical documentary, and environment and science. Films may have been made on any date, regardless of previous premiere, but the person submitting the film must be the copyright holder. Judging is not category-specific; rather, all films will be evaluated in relation to each other, in one of two tracks: Feature Length (40 minutes or more) or Shorts (under 40 minutes). All films are to be in English, or to carry English subtitles.
The early submission deadline is midnight, June 1, 2020. The late deadline is June 21, 2020 and the extended deadline is July 11, 2020. Winners, and the films to be shown at the festival, will be announced on or before August 15, 2020. Submissions may be made online only.
The Grand Prize winner in the Feature Length track will receive $1,000. A runner up will receive $500. The Grand Prize winning short film will receive $500 and the runner up will receive $250.
Bucksport’s state-of-the-art Alamo Theatre will host a gala awards event on the weekend of September 25-27, 2020. In the months after the awards event, a compilation of winning films will be offered to venues worldwide.
