Currach Workshop in Nobleboro, Maine

-

Join us for a two-week Irish currach workshop on Damariscotta Lake building a 25-foot racing Naomhog and a 17-foot Scattery Island fishing currach.

The course will be taught by one of Ireland’s expert currach builders, James Madigan, of the Ilen Boat Building School in Limerick, Ireland and his assistant Matthew Dirr, a graduate of The Apprenticeshop and who currently works as boatbuilder in Ireland.

Participants will live and work together in our lakeside workshop in Nobleboro, Maine, learning traditional skin-on-frame building techniques, and sharing meals and living quarters with the group.
