Historic NC Core Sound Sharpie

Built in 1933 as a commercial fishing vessel ,Sylvia II was designed as a deadrise Core Sound sharpie , working the Core and Bogue sounds in NC .Commandeered by the U.S Navy in WWII, she hunted German U Boats off the Carolina Coast and served as a supply vessel for remote coastal outposts along the Outer Banks.
Beginning in 2014 she underwent a total six year “keel up “ restoration into a family cruiser. Framed in Angelique, she is planked in Atlantic White Cedar and Silicon Bronze fastened throughout. Secondary woods include Mahogany, Sapele and old growth Heart Pine. She is powered by 2016 Cummins 210HP 6BT turbocharged diesel with less than 200 original hours, a ZF transmission and Seastar hydraulic steering system.

Winner of several classic wooden boat show awards, Sylvia II is on the NC Register of Historic Vessels and is documented as North Carolina’s oldest surviving fishing boat and one of the last original Core Sound deadrise sharpies still in existence.
I am only her third owner in almost 100 years of her history, and would like her fourth owner to continue her care and tradition into the decades to come.
