Everyone from Louisiana seems to remember that cypress pirogue boat Pawpaw kept in his barn. Cypress pirogues have since become a relic of the past. Pirogues are flat bottom boats designed to paddle shallow swamps and marshes.

An open boat that rows with ease and swiftness and is stiff enough under sail to stand up to a breeze.
