Wee Lassie

Andrew Green recently launched his Wee Lassie canoe. This is the second Wee Lassie he has built. This one is 10′6″ long version weighing 31 lbs using the blue print plans created by Mac McCarthy and using instructions from his Featherweight Boatbuilding book. Built from self sawn and routed 1/4″ thick bead and cove cedar strips, with a walnut accent strip below the rubbing strips. Bow and stern decks are built using cedar strips with three center strips and diagonal side strips. Andrew launched his Wee Lassie at Merton Mill Pond in Merton, Wisconsin in April 2023 on a cool spring day. He is paddling with a Greenland style one piece paddle he built from cedar and poplar. The wee Lassie paddled smoothly and tracked well.
