Nøkken

I signed on for the October 2013 CLC/WoodenBoat Skerry class in Annapolis, with my husband, Wes, assisting, had a great week building the Skerry hull under the expert guidance of instructor Geoff Kerr. After a five-month hiatus enforced by lack of winter workspace, I was finally able to complete the after-class finish work by June 2014.I added some eastern white cedar floorboards, finished with “Maine boat soup”, to maintain a wood-look continuity between the bright-finished seats. We launched Nøkken at the Nepean Sailing Club on the Ottawa River in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) and have since had it out on Big Rideau Lake (part of the Rideau Canal World Heritage Site, Ontario, Canada). The boat rows and sails beautifully!
