CORSAIR

Steve Batiste found the plans for this 'Corky' design on the website http://hometown.aol.com/polytarp/corky.htm . The article includes no citation to the builder or the designer. Steve modified the design somewhat in building CORSAIR, which is 18' length with 6'10" beam. He wanted to build it of plywood, and needed a raised sheer at the bow and more flair in the mid-section to add stability and keep the boat dry in the frequent chop in experiences at Swans Island, ME. He also changed the rudder/tiller to a transom-hung arrangement and the centerboard to 1/4" stainless steel. He borrowed the shroud and forestay layout from "Willy Winship" WB plan #131. Steve writes that for a first boat CORSAIR turned out surprisingly well; being stiff, fast, dry, and agile, but very forgiving of his relative inexperience. Reach Steve at sbatiste@tds.net.
