Banks dory

Participants in the spring boatbuilding class at The Dory Shop in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, celebrate the launch of the as-yet-unnamed Banks dory they built under the tutelage of master dory builder Jay Langford May 7-18. During the two-week course, the group not only learned how to build a dory, they also toured the rebuild of the Schooner Bluenose II, the Michele Stevens Sailloft and A. Dauphinee and Sons Block Shop. Their boat, which measures 13 feet on the bottom and 17 feet overall, has been purchased by a member of the class who lives in Nova Scotia and promises the other two can come out for a row any time they find themselves back in Nova Scotia.
