CACHALOT

Cachalot was commissioned by my late father, Peter Sturtevant, and built by his friend, Joel White, over the winter of '69-'70. My father later converted her to a ketch rig, painted her royal blue with a white waistband and then sold her to George and Elizabeth Whitehead, who renamed her North Wind. George moored her in Yarmouth, MA but each year returned her to BBY for storage and maintenance. In 2021 Amy and I purchased her from George and recommissioned her Cachalot. Subsequently, she has been repowered, she has received new electronics, her hull has been darkened from royal blue to navy, her waistband has been shrunk, and she has been dressed in new sail covers and cushions. Nonetheless Cachalot retains her Sam Crocker-inspired simplicity and comfort. It's great to have her back!
