Shearwater

I have had these Bolger plans for Diablo for 15 yrs. Originally I wanted to build it at the vocational high school where I was principal but that never happened. Then I wanted to build it in Biloxi, Ms while I was working there in 2009-20010. I did start a stich and glue boatbuilding class in Ocean Springs but the job ended before I could start the second phase which was to be the Diablo build. Finally I got down to business last summer and had a great time building Shearwater with my son and daughter. I modified it with the addition of a small cuddy cabin similar to local alia fishing boats. The cabin shed bow spray and provides dry storage while being low enough to be seen over from the rear seat. All the good things written about this boat are true. I love how she handles and with a 15hp motor I can still plane with 4 adults and gear and troll all day on 6 gal of gas. RIP Phil/Dynamite! The designs live on.
