GENTLE

Dave Singleton took this picture of his son, Raleigh, sitting in their 18′ Peace Canoe, GENTLE, that the two of them built from instructions in “Getting Started” in WoodenBoat Nos. 195 and 196. John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft in Annapolis, Maryland, wrote the articles and designed the boat. She is built from marine plywood and fastened with bronze screws and ring nails. They launched GENTLE at Daphne Bayside in Daphne, Alabama, and plan to paddle her along the eastern shore of Mobile Bay.Dave and Raleigh have also built a second canoe with some members of their church’s youth group.
